Social Studio

Free tool by AAJ — plan and draft the whole month, then export it

A planning desk for social content across seven channels: draft a post once, see it measured against each platform's real character limit, schedule it on a calendar, and export the plan as CSV or as calendar events. It does not connect to your accounts and it does not publish for you — it builds the plan you act on. Everything is stored in your own browser. No signup, no server, no account.

Use the tool at aajconsult.com/tools/social-studio.

What it does

Six views: a dashboard of what is coming up, a composer, a month calendar, an analytics table, a library of everything you have written, and a channel guide. The sidebar carries live counts — drafts, scheduled, published, total — so the state of the plan is visible without opening anything.

The composer takes your post, up to four images and one video, the channels you are publishing to, hashtags and a date and time. As you type, a meter per selected channel shows characters used against that channel's limit, turning amber past 85% and red when you go over. Going over does not block you from saving — you may be writing a thread — but it will not let you do it by accident.

The seven channels and their limits

X caps at 280 characters; LinkedIn 3,000; Instagram 2,200; Facebook 5,000; TikTok 2,200; Threads 500; YouTube 5,000. Each channel also carries a suggested length, a hashtag range and the note that matters most for that surface — that LinkedIn's first two lines have to earn the "see more" click, that Facebook rewards short copy and a question, that Instagram, TikTok and YouTube are media-first and the caption supports the asset rather than carrying it.

The preview tab renders your draft the way each channel truncates it: LinkedIn cuts at 140 characters before "more", Instagram at 125, Facebook at 250, TikTok at 100. It is an approximation and says so — exact rendering varies by device — but it is enough to catch a hook that dies behind a fold.

The calendar and the exports

The month grid shows up to three posts per day and a "+N more" when a day gets busy. Clicking an empty day starts a new post at 9am that morning. Scheduling here builds your plan; it does not post to live accounts.

Three exports. CSV gives you every post with its status, channels, schedule, content, hashtags and metrics — the format to hand to whoever actually publishes. ICS turns your scheduled posts into calendar events, fifteen minutes each, so the plan appears in the calendar your team already looks at. A JSON backup takes everything with you, which matters more than it sounds: browser storage does not survive clearing your browser and does not follow you to another machine.

Measuring what you published

The analytics tab takes impressions, likes, comments, shares and clicks, entered by you from each platform's own reporting — pulling those numbers automatically requires each platform's paid API, and the tool says so rather than pretending. It computes engagements as likes plus comments plus shares, and an engagement rate against impressions, then colours each post green, amber or grey against the thresholds the tool sets out. It does the same arithmetic across all your posts, so the average tells you whether the account as a whole is healthy or has room to grow.

One honest caveat the tool states in place: in the per-channel chart, a post published to three channels counts its impressions and engagements against all three, because the metrics you entered are the post's totals rather than a per-channel split. Read that chart as where you are active, not as a precise per-channel comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Does it publish to my social accounts?

No. It plans, drafts, organises and exports. Publishing requires each platform's API and OAuth, and this tool has neither — the calendar is your plan, not an auto-publisher.

Where is my data stored?

In your own browser, and nowhere else. There is no account, no server and no analytics call. The trade-off is real: clearing your browser data clears your posts, and they do not follow you to another device. Use the JSON backup in the library if that matters.

Can I attach video?

You can attach one video per post and up to four images. The video's thumbnail, name, size and duration are saved; the video file itself is not, because browser storage cannot hold it. Re-attach the file when you publish.

Why does it warn me before I hit the character limit?

Because a post that fits with two characters to spare usually reads like one. The meter turns amber at 85% so you can cut on purpose rather than at the boundary.
